Wedding
make up can be difficult to get right, particularly
if you don’t normally wear any at all. And
even if you do wear make up regularly you won’t
want to stick with your normal appearance for your
wedding day.
To begin with you should plan your make up in
plenty of time, just as you would everything else.
Don’t leave it until the last moment because
you will want to experiment and find something
that looks and feels good for you.
Some women opt for the services of a make up artist
but if you are on a tight budget you may want to
forego this part of the wedding
preparations. If
you are used to putting on your own make up and
you are quite experienced at it you can do without
this aspect of the wedding if you feel confident
enough to do so.
One key point to remember is not to do something
wildly different to what you would normally do.
For example if you naturally wear earthy colours
don’t suddenly change and think of wearing
something completely different. Every woman has
colours which naturally suit her and those are
the ones you should focus on for your wedding day.
You should obviously be looking your best for
your big day, and as such wearing the right make
up can make you feel more confident. Make sure
you have all the make up items you require well
in advance. Buy some concealer if you don’t
already have some, just in case the dreaded spot
decides to surface on the day! And if it does don’t
try and squeeze it – it will always look
worse. Simply cover it and forget about it if you
can.
One key point to remember is not just to see what
your make up looks like in the mirror. You should
of course try out what you are planning to wear
in the make up department before the day itself,
just as you will try on your wedding
dress and
everything else that is needed. But once you have
done this make sure you get a friend to take a
quick picture or two of you. This has nothing to
do with vanity – it gives you a chance to
see how your make up will look in the wedding photos.
If it needs touching up to make you look your best,
it is better to find out before the fact than afterwards
when the photos have already been taken on the
day itself.
Whatever degree of make up you decide to wear
in the end, it should always make you feel comfortable.
If you don’t generally wear much at all then
even the smallest amount could make you feel self
conscious and it is likely to feel more visible
to everyone watching. As always your feelings are
paramount and while you want to please your partner,
who will be waiting to watch you walk up the aisle,
you don’t want to scare him either!
