The
wedding dress is the traditional form of dress
for any woman who is getting married. That doesn't
mean every woman who wears one feels comfortable
on the big day itself however.
This is why a lot of thought needs to go into
the wedding dress you choose. You will be wearing
it for a long time, and if it isn’t comfortable
you will regret buying it in the first place. You
need to feel confident and beautiful as you walk
down the aisle, not fidgety and awkward. Not only
will you feel self conscious in such a dress, it
could ruin your big day completely.
So where do you start? How do you start thinking
about choosing a wedding dress that you will truly
love to wear on your wedding day?
The first step – and perhaps the most important
one of all – is to think about what you will
be happy with. Everyone has very specific ideas
about what a bride should wear, which is why you
should always take great care in choosing someone
to go with you for this task. If your mum wants
you to wear something white and lacy and you would
feel happier in a simple cream dress, you need
to let her down gently. Don’t be persuaded
to opt for anything you aren’t truly happy
with.
In a similar vein, most of us have a certain
part of our body that we aren’t pleased about.
There are some wonderful sleeveless wedding dresses
available today, but if you don’t want your
arms to be on show, make sure you avoid these – however
lovely the rest of the dress might look. Apply
this rule to every dress you consider – how
good do you feel in it?
Remember too that trying on a wedding
dress in
a private changing room is one thing. On your big
day you will be wearing it in front of all your
family and friends – and all eyes will be
on you. Whenever you try on a specific dress, see
how you feel in it and then close your eyes and
imagine yourself walking down the aisle. Do you
still feel comfortable and proud to wear it – or
can you feel yourself breaking out in a cold self
conscious sweat?
Wedding
dresses run the gamut of styles and go
from being lacy with complex patterns to something
much simpler and more understated. If you don’t
want the traditional white dress, you may feel
more comfortable in a plain cream dress with a
simple bolero jacket over the top. Many a stunning
bride has got married wearing an outfit similar
to this.
Finally, you also need to think of everything
that goes with the wedding dress you choose. Lots
of brides have proudly walked down the aisle in
trainers, because they cannot bear the feeling
of walking in high heels. If you are going to do
this, make sure the wedding dress is plenty big
enough to cover your little secret!
