Weddings
can be huge events where lots of time and money
have been spent to make sure everything happens
as it should. Months of planning are often involved
in the build up to the big day, and the last thing
you want is for anything to go wrong.
This explains why there is such a thing as wedding
insurance. And a lot of people do decide to take
out a policy to cover them in case they should
be unlucky and something does happen to upset the
wedding.
But is it worth doing in the first place?
The truth is that there are a lot of things that
can happen to cause problems. These can be small
or large things. Some people have had the unfortunate
circumstance of having a close relative passing
away not long before the wedding. If this should
happen or someone close falls ill, the last thing
you will want to do is go ahead with the big day.
Insurance policies can cover this type of occurrence
so you can cancel and claim on the policy to cover
your costs. It is still not ideal of course but
at least you won’t lose out on thousands
of pounds as a result of something out of your
control putting paid to the wedding.
If you are considering having wedding insurance
you should take the time to shop around and compare
different policies to see which one is going to
be best for you. As with other kinds of insurance
the price is not necessarily the thing you should
be looking at the most. There can be big differences
between the prices offered by different companies,
but you should always compare what they actually
offer before choosing the one you want.
You may find that some things will already be
covered by insurance you already have. For example
if you are keeping your wedding
dress in your house
and something happens to it, you should be covered
by your home contents insurance. If in doubt you
should call your insurance company to double check.
Whatever happens to be included or left out of
the policy, you should always make sure that cancellation
of the wedding for some reason is fully covered.
This is the most expensive setback you could possibly
have, no matter why it comes about. Can you imagine
spending £15,000 on the biggest day of your
life only to have to cancel it for some reason?
That is a lot of money to lose. Not only will your
big day be ruined but you will be unable to afford
to reschedule it at a later date.
This is the main argument in favour of having
wedding
insurance. Provided you shop around for
the best deal and the best policy, you should definitely
consider having this minor but very important addition
to your plans.
If you do, you can look forward to the big day,
safe in the knowledge that it is fully covered.
