What
is a wedding vow? It is an exchange of promise
or beliefs made by two individuals who are about
to get married. If you wish to write your own wedding
vow, you need to consult the following tips to
ensure that you are allowed to it without breaking
any rules and how to make it effective.
Consult Your Registrar/Minister
Before any further action, it is best to consult
the authority if you are allowed to write a personal
vow. Ask permission first to save time and effort.
If you are allowed to do so then you can start
writing your wedding vows. However, if your minister
restricts writing a personal vow then feel free
to hold this for use during the wedding
reception.
It is always best to consult before doing anything
to make things legal and proper and so to not offend.
Speak From The Heart
Granted that you are allowed to write your personal
vow, speak from the heart. Don’t focus on
trying to impress anybody. Talk about your love
story and the words that you really mean to say.
Write it with pure sincerity and honesty and look
straight to the eyes of your beloved while saying
it.
Recall From The Past
Try to make your experiences with your beloved
as your inspiration in creating your wedding vows.
Mention some names that are very close to both
of you and those who have contributed much to the
success of your story.
Make Your Written Vows Very Brief
Its length does not measure the sincerity of your
vow. Don’t write a novel for you are bound
to receive the sacrament of marriage and the ceremony
is limited. A meaningful vow is measured on how
you put it into action.
Practice Reading Your Vows
You are about to get
married. You expect people
to hear your vows and you want them to appreciate
every word that comes out from your mouth, especially
your beloved. If you have problems with your pronunciation,
correct it right away. Every word that you utter
must be clear and concise. Speak your vow in front
of your beloved and show her how sincere you are
in saying the words of promise.
If you are not sure that you can
deliver your vow without notes then it’s better
to have a copy than to be speechless in front of many
people. It happens sometimes and to save yourself,
make a few concise notes or prompts to put you back
on the right path should you need it. Enjoy your wedding
day and most importantly be sincere…a few words
that come directly from the heart and out of love
for one another is exactly what you are looking for.
