Your
wedding album will contain the best memories of
the day you got married. As such it pays to think
carefully about how you will create it.
Luckily there are lots of different ways you can
create this all important album. Make sure you
consider all the options together before choosing
the best way for you both.
To start with you can choose a basic photo album.
You can opt for one that takes photos of just one
size or you can choose one that has much larger
pages. These are better because you can use both
small and large photos and insert other items as
well if you wish.
In fact, scrapbooking is becoming more and more
popular as an alternative to the traditional wedding
photograph album. It’s easy to see why too – you
can buy a large scrapbook with pages already in
it and then buy additional ones to insert at a
later date if you want to.
You can also make good use of
embellishments and other items to add in with the
actual photos. This gives you lots of ways to think
about adding footnotes, captions and other items
to the pages. How about drying some of the wedding
flowers from the bride’s
bouquet for example, and adding them in to the
overall design of a page?
Regardless of the type of album or scrapbook you
choose, you can create different themes for different
pages if you have room to add more than one picture
to each one. For example you could have a page
dedicated to the bridesmaids and one to the best
man. And of course you can have separate pages
for the bride and the groom, and several for the
two of you together.
Thanks to the wonders of modern technology you
can also use your digital photos to create an online
photo album or book which can then be printed if
you wish. This can make a wonderful alternative
to a traditional album, because the pages are printed
like a proper book and they will usually come in
hardback as well. They would make wonderful thank
you gifts for the parents of the bride and groom
perhaps?
Whatever type of album you choose however, make
sure that the overall presentation is cohesive.
Don’t start with pictures of the cake and
the reception and then go back to the actual wedding.
Keep things in a logical order and you will be
amazed at what you can achieve from a huge selection
of photos that seemed to overwhelm you at the start.
Here is one final suggestion if you decide to
add disposable wedding cameras to the tables for
your guests to use during the celebrations. Why
not create another album devoted specifically to
these? This would be your guests’ view of
what happened after the wedding itself during the
reception, and it can provide a nice footnote to
the proceedings.
In any event your wedding album is an essential
part of the whole event. And as such it is worth
doing right.
